Study Abroad

The Whispering Pines Seventh-day Adventist School offers a unique foreign language program for children from pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade. All students are required to study two foreign languages, namely Spanish and Korean. Additionally, students in grades 7 and 8 have the opportunity to travel to a country where one of these languages is spoken.

The main objective of these trips is not just to expose students to different countries' sights and flavors but to provide them with a deeper experience. They get to live among the locals, make friends, and learn from youth in other parts of the world while immersing themselves in the culture and language of the country.

The school has organized several trips in the past. In 2014, students visited Puerto Rico for nine days, attending classes at Academia Regional Adventista del Este. In 2016, ten students traveled to South Korea, where they lived, attended school, toured, and studied Korean language and history for a month at the Korean Adventist Preparatory School (KAPA) in Gyeonggi Province. Subsequent trips were made to South Korea in 2017 and 2019 and to Costa Rica in 2018. Unfortunately, a planned return visit to Costa Rica in April 2020 was canceled due to the global health crisis.

In March to April 2023, after the pandemic, the school successfully visited South Korea again for 21 days and had a wonderful experience at Sahmyook University in Seoul.

We will persist in providing language and cultural training in Spanish and Korean to students at all grade levels.
